In recent months, Alex had more and more often come to the conclusion that he had made a mistake by marrying Victoria.
Once, he had truly loved her, but as the years passed, his feelings began to fade. Their place was taken by another woman, for whom he was ready to abandon his old life and start everything over again.
But he did not want to go through a divorce, divide the property, or lose money. It seemed to him that there was a much simpler way to solve the problem.
The plan did not come to him all at once.
For many weeks, he analyzed every detail, until finally he made his decision.
One evening, he suggested to his wife that they take a trip out of town to get some rest. Victoria suspected nothing bad and agreed without hesitation.
During the journey, Alex secretly added a sleeping drug to her drink. Not long afterward, the woman fell asleep.
WHEN THE CAR TURNED ONTO A FOREST ROAD, THERE WERE NO LONGER ANY HOUSES OR PEOPLE AROUND. IT WAS A FREEZING WINTER NIGHT. SNOW COVERED THE GROUND BETWEEN THE TREES, AND A STRONG WIND SHOOK THE BARE BRANCHES.
Alex stopped the car, got out, and for a moment listened to the silence surrounding him.
Then he opened the car door, lifted his wife into his arms, and walked deeper into the forest.
He wanted to leave her as far from the road as possible.
In a place from which she would not be able to easily find her way back.
He searched for the right spot for a long time, until finally he noticed a powerful old tree with a thick trunk.
“No one will find you here,” he whispered.
He was just about to lay the woman down in the snow and walk away when suddenly he heard a rustling sound.
HE RAISED HIS EYES.
A few meters in front of him stood a wolf.
A huge gray wolf stared at him without moving.
Alex froze.
His heart began pounding so violently that he could hear the blood pulsing in his own ears. The wolf took one step forward.
Then another.
The man slowly began backing away, still holding Victoria in his arms.
Suddenly, the animal moved toward him.
AND THAT WAS WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENED THAT TERRIFIED HIM MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE. 😳😱
The wolf lunged in his direction.
Terrified, Alex screamed, dropped his wife straight into the snow, and ran between the trees.
He ran blindly ahead without looking back, stumbling and falling, convinced that the predator was following his trail.
Only after several minutes did he dare to look behind him.
But no one was there.
The wolf was not chasing him at all.
THE ANIMAL RETURNED TO THE PLACE WHERE THE WOMAN WAS LYING. IT CAREFULLY APPROACHED HER AND SAT DOWN BESIDE HER.
For several minutes, it watched her face closely, and then began gently licking her hands and cheeks.
After some time, Victoria moved.
Slowly, she opened her eyes.
At first, she did not understand where she was.
In front of her sat a huge wolf.
Terrified, she quickly sat up, but the animal showed no aggression.
It looked at her calmly and did not even try to come closer.
WITH TIME, VICTORIA BEGAN TO REMEMBER THE EVENTS OF THE PREVIOUS EVENING.
She realized she was alone in the middle of the forest.
Fortunately, it was not completely dark. The glow of the moon lit the snowy path winding between the trees.
The woman noticed many tracks left in the snow.
Among them were Alex’s boot prints.
Realizing that she could not stay there, she began following the tracks.
For a while, the wolf walked beside her, still keeping a safe distance.
Finally, it stopped and disappeared among the trees.
ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, VICTORIA REACHED THE ROAD, WHERE PASSING DRIVERS NOTICED HER.
Later, she told the police everything that had happened that night.
Alex was arrested the very next day.
Right up until the trial, he tried to convince everyone that the wolf was to blame for everything.
But no one believed him.
Because it was that very wolf that stopped him from finishing his plan and, in truth, saved the life of the woman whom her own husband had wanted to leave to certain death in the middle of a winter forest.
