But when the doors of the luxurious hall suddenly opened, I appeared there in a way he could not even have imagined — and it was that very evening that his world began to fall apart. 😮😱
Adrian and I had been together for seven years. Throughout all that time, I supported both of us — I took every job I could, sold my belongings and jewelry, denied myself everything just so he could finish his studies and get into a major corporation.
I believed that one day we would stand beside each other as equal partners.
On the day of his promotion, I prepared as if it were a great celebration. I had spent a long time saving money for a simple but elegant blue dress. I only wanted to be beside him — proud and happy.
But an hour before we were supposed to leave, I smelled something burning.
I ran out into the yard… and froze.
Adrian was standing by the grill in an elegant suit, and my dress was turning into ash.
THE DOORS OF THE HALL OPENED IN THE VERY MIDDLE OF THE RECEPTION, AND THE MURMUR OF CONVERSATIONS SLOWLY FADED. PEOPLE BEGAN TURNING THEIR HEADS, LOOKING ON WITH CURIOSITY.
I walked in calmly, without any hurry, and there was more strength in that calmness than in any display. I was wearing an elegant gown in a deep shade, perfectly fitted to my figure, and the jewelry softly reflected the light, emphasizing not luxury, but status.
I was no longer the woman he had left among the ashes.
Adrian noticed me and instantly turned pale.
“You?.. How did you get in here?” he asked, confused, taking a step forward.
I smiled faintly, but there was no warmth in my eyes.
“Exactly the same way you did… with just one difference.”
Around us, the conversations began to die down. People were listening.
I TOOK ANOTHER STEP AND SAID CALMLY:
“Did you really think you knew who you had been living with all these years?”
He tried to answer, but the words stuck in his throat. At that moment, a man from the board approached me and, slightly lowering his head, said:
“Mrs. Won, everything is ready. The board is already waiting.”
The silence in the hall became almost tangible.
I looked Adrian straight in the eyes.
“My name is Clara Won. Seven years ago, I gave up my surname, my status, and everything I had in order to understand what true love was. The company you work for… belongs to my family.”
“That’s impossible…” he whispered.
“YOU’RE RIGHT,” I ANSWERED CALMLY. “THE ONLY IMPOSSIBLE THING WAS THAT YOU WOULD BETRAY ME IN EXACTLY THIS WAY.”
That was enough.
Within a few minutes, his confidence collapsed like a house of cards, and with it, everything he had tried to build. I did not stop for even a moment anymore. I simply turned around and walked away, leaving behind not a man… but my final mistake.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” I burst out.
He did not even react.
“It’s trash. Just like you.”
Those words hurt more than the fire. I tried to understand why… but he only added coldly that I no longer fit into his life. That his level had changed. That from now on, someone “suitable” would be by his side.
When he drove away, leaving me alone among the smoke and silence, something inside me broke. But not in the way he expected — the pain disappeared very quickly, and icy indifference took its place.
He was certain he had gotten rid of me. But he had no idea who I truly was.
Seven years earlier, I had given up everything for love, and now I had received my answer. I calmly wiped away my tears, took out my phone, and called one number.
“Prepare everything for tonight,” I said quietly. “This time, I will appear differently.” 😵😮
